About Café12/31
Loving our neighbour
Café12/31 is a project of TRINITY church, built on the ethos of being a place of love and refuge. In fact, our name comes from the bible verse Mark 12:31 ‘love your neighbour’ and that’s exactly what we are aiming to do. All that we do at Café12/31 is rooted in the love of God and we want to show that love to all our customers by aiming to become a true community café, a place for all to feel welcome and that they belong.
Café12/31 is especially friendly to young families, with our onsite playroom for pre-school customers, and plenty of space to stash buggies.
Loving our environment
As part of an ‘Eco church’, Café12/31 is guided by the TRINITY Creation Care team, so that we can be as environmentally friendly as possible. We’ve sourced compostable take away containers and are also big fans of ‘Plastic Free Lewes’, aiming to use as little single use plastic as possible.
We encourage customers to bring in their refillable cups and containers for take away.
Wherever we can we are supporting the Lewes area and stocking local produce, keeping down our carbon footprint. Our coffee is Tigermoth’s House Blend is made up of three different coffees from Colombia, Timor-Leste and Rwanda. All three are sourced through Raw Material, a social enterprise that gives 100 per cent of profits back to farmers through payments for coffee and investments in the community. Raw Material works with farmers to improve the quality and consistency of their coffee, and connects them with speciality roasters who make a long-term commitment to buying from the region, yielding a higher and more stable price..
Loving our customers
We’ll also have some delicious ‘free from’ options on our menu, including vegan and gluten free. We offer soya and oat milk alternatives.
We are blessed with lovely customers of many ages and our four legged friends. Do pop in and see us sometime.
