Lewes Sings Gospel is a community choir hosted by Trinity Church Lewes. We are a choir for everyone; all ages, all faiths and none. We welcome everyone. We are a vibrant community, where you can meet new people. grow friendships and enjoy the journey of learning and singing gospel music together.
Lewes Sings Gospel is conducted by the wonderfully talented Russell Blackman. He is an extremely accomplished singer / songwriter, worship leader and choir director. We are also fortunate to have the talented Vaughn Lamond accompany us on keyboard each week.
We love to sing together.

LSG is open to all
Lewes Sings Gospel has been running since 2009. LSG is a choir for everyone regardless of ability or experience. Lewes Sings Gospel is a vibrant community where people have fun, connect with others and learn new skills. Lewes Sings Gospel runs for 2 terms each year, starting in October and April. The terms run for 12 weeks and culminate in a fantastic concert.

Rehearsals happen in blocks of twelve weeks October to January and April to July
Rehearsals start again on 1st October 2024.

Russell Blackman
Summer term 2024 sees Lewes Sings Gospel have a new choir director. Russell has been involved with the choir as a stand in conductor over the last couple of years but now takes over the baton from Marsha Morrison.
Creative, Singer/Songwriter, Worship Leader, Teacher, Blogger, Mentor. Many things can be said about Russell, but his sole identity is found in being a son, a servant, and a student. He lives by a firm belief that He was created to love God and love people.
Russell has been involved in the performing arts from the age of 10, including leading ensemble groups and vocal coaching/arranging.
Russell was born and raised in Barbados and lived in the US and UK. After graduating from university in Texas, he was brought on staff as the Worship Arts Director at The People’s Cathedral in Barbados (the largest Pentecostal church in the Caribbean). In 2018, Russell released his debut album entitled, “One Shepherd Boy”, which he later won four Barbados Gospel Flame Awards for including Songwriter of The Year & Recording of The Year.
Russell is a great asset to lead Lewes Sings Gospel into its next season. We are excited to have him as our new Choir Director
